TITLE: Electric Technician A

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Electrical Technician is responsible for electrical, electronics, and maintenance of all equipment. Performs other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Industrial maintenance degree or similar from a state certified technical school or community college is required. Completion of a 4-year electrical apprenticeship can be substituted
  • Must have knowledge of basic industrial electrical components – relays, timers, contactors, proximity switches, etc.
  • Must be able to read multimeters and amp meters.
  • A background in industrial electronics and troubleshooting is required
  • Experience with PLC controls and variable speed drives is preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Experience with PLC controls and variable speed drives is preferred
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends and evenings as needed. Also must be able to work on-call as needed
  • Must be able to read electrical schematics
  • The ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings is a plus
  • Can work with limited supervision (ie. night shift)
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All skills, knowledge and job duties of Electrical Technician B.
  • Troubleshoot and repair A/C, D/C motors, drives and inverters.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fire panels and alarm systems.
  • Correctly identify and work on any electrical cabinet in the plant.
  • Identify and safely work on any switchgear in the plant.
  • Replace non-programmable devices such as relays, contactors, timers, PLC i/o cards.
  • Use soldering for repairs as needed
  • Check and change motor rotation if needed.
  • Replace plant lighting and ballasts.
  • Check and replace fuses.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits.
  • Assists Maintenance technician in the lubrication and repair of mechanical equipment
  • Maintain all equipment in good running order
  • Ensure that job site is clean and free of hazards
  • Maintains good housekeeping and safety practices when running equipment
  • Interacts and communicates with Production supervisor during shift and assist on production line when needed
  • Maintains professional certifications and keeps updated on all procedures and policy changes; keeps training up to date
  • Operates all maintenance equipment safely, follows LOTO procedures at all times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

  • Manufacturing Environment
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures (cold and hot)
  • Loud noise
